You’re never too dead for a resurrection, you’re never too far gone to be redeemed.
Everyone knows the story of Rahab, the prostitute who hid the Israelite spies and was spared from the destruction of Jericho.
But did you know she was the great grandmother of King David, and a direct ancestor of the King of Kings, Jesus?
She was adopted into Israel after being spared from the destruction of Jericho, and married a man named Salmon:
‘Salmon the father of Boaz, whose mother was Rahab,
Boaz the father of Obed, whose mother was Ruth,
Obed the father of Jesse,
and Jesse the father of King David.
David was the father of Solomon, whose mother had been Uriah’s wife…..
and Jacob the father of Joseph, the husband of Mary,
and Mary was the mother of Jesus who is called the Messiah. ‘
Matthew 1:5-6,16
When the rest of her society dismissed her, disgraced her, and discarded her, the Lord saw favor in her and spared her. Not only did He spare her, He blessed and redeemed her and chose to rewrite her story and her future, and from her came our Savior.
She knew the Israelites’ God is the True God. Their God is the same God that parted the Red Sea and spared them from the Egyptians, and she asked for His people to spare her and her loved ones.
‘and said to them, “I know that the Lord has given you this land and that a great fear of you has fallen on us, so that all who live in this country are melting in fear because of you. We have heard how the Lord dried up the water of the Red Sea for you when you came out of Egypt, and what you did to Sihon and Og, the two kings of the Amorites east of the Jordan, whom you completely destroyed. When we heard of it, our hearts melted in fear and everyone’s courage failed because of you, for the Lord your God is God in heaven above and on the earth below. “Now then, please swear to me by the Lord that you will show kindness to my family, because I have shown kindness to you. Give me a sure sign that you will spare the lives of my father and mother, my brothers and sisters, and all who belong to them—and that you will save us from death.” “Our lives for your lives!” the men assured her. “If you don’t tell what we are doing, we will treat you kindly and faithfully when the Lord gives us the land.” ‘
Joshua 2:9-14
Not only was she spared, she became the ancestor of our Lord and Savior.
What society may have told you, may have seen in you is not your final story. Your past, your past mistakes does not have to determine your future if you trust in God.
Say this prayer to accept Jesus into your life:
Dear God,
I know I’m a sinner, and I ask for your forgiveness. I believe Jesus Christ is Your Son. I believe that He died for my sin and that you raised Him to life. I want to trust Him as my Savior and follow Him as Lord, from this day forward. Guide my life and help me to do your will. I pray this in the name of Jesus. Amen.
The same power that raised our Savior is the power that lives in us and gives life to our mortal bodies(Rom. 8:11), and has the power to rewrite our futures and change our final story.
This includes what doctors may say about you. They may say they have seen this type of diagnosis thousands of times, it is a heavily studied phenomenon, there’s no hope, etc. They may not want to even work with you because of how “complex/complicated” the diagnosis may be. They might even get frustrated at your decision to fight to live! They might cunningly, or even unintentionally try to get you to denounce your faith, lose your trust in God, tell you the lie that God’s plans may change or God throws curb-balls (God is not the author of confusion [1 Cor 14:33] and God is not a liar, He doesn’t change His mind [Num 23:19]). Stand firm on the Word of God and His promises, “Blessed is the one who perseveres under trial because, having stood the test, that person will receive the crown of life that the Lord has promised to those who love him.” James 1:12 NIV
if it sounds like lying, killing, stealing, destroying, it is a lie of the devil (John 10:10) no matter whose mouth it comes from, from a provider or maybe even a loved one trying to “tell you reality”, it is a lie of the devil because Jesus came to that we may have life, and have it to the full (John 10:10). It can even come from your mind, but it is a lie and it is not your own unless you declare it out loud, which takes the lie of the devil and made it declared over yourself (Brother Curry).
God does not test faith. It is the devil that tempts us not God. Jesus resisted temptation by using “It is written” with the Word of God to overcome the temptation! “When tempted, no one should say, “God is tempting me.” For God cannot be tempted by evil, nor does he tempt anyone;” James 1:13 NIV God cannot tempt us with evil. It is either temptation by the devil or our own lust or understanding. But God is faithful, if we continue to trust in HIM, He shall bring us through the trial that was thrown at us by the devil.
so if someone does not understand your determination in trusting God, fighting the fight of faith, standing in faith, refusing to come into agreement with negativity, your grit, your fight, your work ethic, your will to fight for your health, rebuke their words and say this (at least to yourself), thus it is written:
- My case is different, I am not a statistic, I am a child of God, and with long life He will satisfy me and show me His salvation (Ps. 91:16)
- I will live and not die (Ps. 118:17)
- By His stripes I am healed (1 Pet. 2:27)
‘ “When you enter a house, first say, ‘Peace to this house.’ If someone who promotes peace is there, your peace will rest on them; if not, it will return to you. “When you enter a town and are welcomed, eat what is offered to you. Heal the sick who are there and tell them, ‘The kingdom of God has come near to you.’ But when you enter a town and are not welcomed, go into its streets and say, ‘Even the dust of your town we wipe from our feet as a warning to you. Yet be sure of this: The kingdom of God has come near.’’
Luke 10:5-6,8-11
Our faith (speaking God’s promises over ourselves) allows God and gives Him legal right to operate His promises in our lives
